The momentum transfer at the lower boundary of the ocean to the solid earth by friction at the ocean bottom.
For the friction velocity, a value of 1/30 of the geostrophic velocity at the upper boundary of the bottom boundary layer is assumed, and the drag coefficient is approximately 10-5.
